Erickson Farmstead
I recently had the chance to photograph a family at Erickson Farmstead and had such a wonderful experience that I just had to share! Sarah, the venue manager, came to meet me when I arrived and it instantly felt as though we had been friends forever. She was so welcoming and shared the history behind the Farmstead while giving me a tour of the beautiful property.
The Ericksons were potato farmers and raised seven sons and two daughters on the farmstead - which means lots of bedrooms that are perfect for getting ready for a wedding! In the 1920’s Edward and his sons began to open a variety of businesses and expanded into oil, opening what we now know as the Holiday and SuperAmerica Service Stations. Pretty cool!
It was easy to see that the owners and staff have put their hearts into the continued restoration of the farmstead, as each room in the home is full of comfort and charm. The buildings each offer something spectacular, from chandeliers in the reception barn to the gorgeous natural light streaming in through the windows of the summer kitchen. If you’re looking for a rustic location on the north side of the metro, this may be the perfect place for you - they’ll welcome you in like family immediately.
Not getting married but still want to check it out? I'd love to meet you there for a family or portrait photo session! The Farmstead also hosts a variety of community events throughout the year that are a lot of fun!
